Mission: Promote Physical and Mental Health and Prevent Disease, Injury and Disability

Coming Soon!

The Community Health Status Indicators Project (CHSI) will comprise 3,141 Community Health Status Indicator Reports, one for each county in the U.S. These reports will include:

  • A snapshot of a county's health status according to data selected by local health officials
  • Healthy People 2010 targets
  • National rates and peer counties (i.e., counties of similar population size, density, age distribution and poverty) for comparison purposes
This effort was initiated in response to requests from local health officials for health data specific to their communities. CHSI gives local public health agencies another tool for improving their community's health. Health professionals and community planners will use the reports to help target resources and set priorities.
